Sample footage comparison
In this video you will see the GoPro MAX and Insta360 ONE X battle it out in various types of environments, lighting, and shots. These shots were processed via Desktop to get the best video quality possible out of these cameras.
There are 3 mains factors which determine the best Video Quality. Which are Colour, Clarity, and Stitching. The colour should look natural like the colour I see with my eyes. The 360 camera with the best colour is GoPro MAX.
Clarity is determined by 2 factors. How clean or grainy the video is. And how sharp or blurry the video is. The 360 camera with the best clarity is GoPro MAX.
Stitching is determined by how seamless the stitch line is. The 360 camera with the best stitch line is the Insta360 ONE X. The thinner design of the ONE X body is a significant advantage for a more seamless stitch line. However, the GoPro MAX can seamlessly blend the exposure of both lenses. This is something the ONE X struggles with.

When you record 360 video, GoPro MAX will save 360 video in HEVC (.360) format. You cannot import .360 files into a video editor. They must be converted first.
The .360 files can be converted using GoPro MAX Exporter Desktop Software For Windows. This software will convert the .360 files into ProRes 5.6K .mov files or H264/HEVC 4K .mp4 files. For Mac, please use GoPro Player to convert the .360 files into .mov or .mp4. The .mov or .mp4 files can then be imported into Premiere Pro. To get the full 5.6K video resolution, you must export to ProRes. This results in HUGE .mov video file sizes.
